My Philosophy

Welcome to Brightening Prospect. I'm Mick Murphy, a meditation teacher who has been meditating for more than fifty years. I have three degrees in religio-spiritual phenomena, including a PhD. I have a grounding in Buddhism, Hinduism, and Indian Philosophy but my knowledge draws on a wide range of wisdom traditions. I work with clients from different backgrounds sharing simple, direct, and powerful methods for overcoming the challenges of life and for spiritual development.

I would say without hesitation that learning to meditate, along with the absorption of the related teachings, has been the most important education of my life. Nothing I have learnt since comes even close to beating this profound and life-changing wisdom. Becoming absorbed in focused attention, lucid awareness, heartfelt compassion, and intuitive understanding has helped me to overcome life’s obstacles for a free living and easy existence. It seems natural then, that I should wish to share this with as many people as possible, should they be open and ready to receive it.

What is the benefit of meditation?

Meditation has many benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving focus and concentration, promoting better sleep and good health. Developing your spiritual identity engenders a peaceful life.

How long are Brightening Prospect sessions?

Brightening Prospect sessions can run for 60 minutes or more.

What is the cost of a Brightening Prospect session?

The cost of a one-to-one varies depending on the time of the session. The standard fee is £70 (around $90 USA) per hour.

Discounts are available if 4 sessions are booked but the sessions must take place within 1 month and be paid in advance to qualify for the discount. The fee for 4 sessions is £240 (or $320 USA)

Do I need to pay for multiple sessions up front?

No, it’s pay as you go (unless you book at least 4 sessions to qualify for a discount – see above question). You only need to pay for the session that you are about to attend. Payment should be received the day before, or sooner if you wish. Sessions will only take place once payment has been made.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations need to take place 48 hours prior to the scheduled session or incur a £70 charge. If you have paid prior to the session and cancel 48 hours before, you will be refunded or can simply take the session that you have paid for at a later date.

Are the sessions confidential?

Yes, all sessions are confidential. Your privacy is protected at all times.

How are sessions carried out?

One-to-one sessions are carried out on Skype or Zoom. You will need a quiet space and a good internet connection.

Do you offer face-to-face sessions?

Rarely – as the client base is worldwide. However, if you should find yourself in the area then a face-to-face session can be arranged, but this would incur a surcharge for room hire.

How many Brightening Prospect sessions should I have?

It depends entirely on your requirements. You can come and go as you please and will never be coerced to take on sessions. An initial free 30-minute session is provided to assess your needs before booking further sessions.
